Full-Mouth Rehabilitation

The process by which teeth, gums, muscles and bones work together inside the mouth is very complex. Over time and with normal wear, chewing can become impaired. Teeth can deteriorate, chipping or losing their natural brightness, and gums can become inflamed, causing unnecessary pain and suffering. Full-mouth rehabilitation is the use of several procedures in dentistry to restore the normal functions of the teeth and mouth, and the attractiveness of your smile. At Clinique Dentaire Saint-Léonard, we take a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, to resolving dental problems once they occur. Our aim is to restore the entire mouth to its normal function. This can involve gum treatment, crowns, dental implants, bridges, or simple cosmetic procedures. Every case is unique, and our capable dental professionals can be counted on to determine the correct diagnosis and develop the most appropriate treatment plan.

Oral Health Exam

The dental check-up or oral health exam is a simple but often overlooked dental procedure. It is fundamental for the prevention, early detection and treatment of oral disease. When it comes to oral health, it is wrong to think that if it doesn't hurt then nothing is wrong. Regular dental checkups can prevent a simple cavity from becoming a dental abscess. And monitoring by a dental health professional is important in detecting the onset of gum disease, cancer and other conditions. Screening for oral disease is a routine but essential part of a dental exam, especially for smokers. The oral health exam is usually combined with a dental cleaning, which removes recurring dental calculus (tartar) and plaque to maintain healthy gums. Our goal is to ensure that your teeth and gums remain healthy by monitoring your mouth on a regular basis.

Teeth Whitening or Bleaching

Teeth lose their natural whiteness over time because of what we eat and drink, smoking, and improper oral hygiene, among other reasons. Teeth whitening is a simple, effective and inexpensive procedure that restores the natural brightness of your teeth. In our dental practice it is also one of the most requested cosmetic procedures by patients of all ages. Our clinic uses only industry-approved methods and products adapted to the needs of each patient, thereby ensuring excellent, long-lasting results. We offer one-hour, in-office laser bleaching as well as take-home bleaching systems such as NiteWhite®, DayWhite®, LUMIBrite® and Sapphire®. Restoring the natural glow of your smile is easy. A great smile makes a great first impression and restores your self-esteem.

Veneers

Veneers are a very durable and effective method of restoring the aesthetic appearance and colour of teeth. Veneers are thin, semi-translucent "shells" customized from porcelain and other materials, and bonded onto the surface of teeth to correct spaces between teeth, repair broken and chipped teeth, align crooked teeth, and conceal stains and discolouration. Application is painless and non-invasive and, in most cases, can be completed in two dental visits. We offer a wide range of veneer products including Lumineers® ultra-thin veneers.

Dental Implants

The dental implant is the new standard of care for tooth replacement. Losing one or more teeth not only creates a gap in your smile; it also causes bone loss that changes the shape of your face, making you look prematurely old. Dental implants are comprised of an artificial root (usually made of titanium) and a crown usually made of porcelain, gold alloy, zirconium or a combination of these materials. The artificial root is screwed into the bone during a surgical procedure, and the crown is attached to the titanium root. Why implants? Implants provide a wide range of tooth replacement therapies, including a single tooth, multiple teeth, and replacement of the entire dentition. Our tried-and-true implant dentistry procedures rely on established brands such as Biohorizons® and MIS.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are a permanent covering that is cemented over part of a tooth or an entire tooth that is decayed, damaged or cracked. They not only function to protect teeth, but are a very effective means of restoring the aesthetics and functionality of teeth. The procedure usually requires two or three visits over a three week period. Crowns can be made of porcelain, gold alloy, zirconium or a combination of these materials. Our clinic uses only established dental crown brands such as E-Max®, Empress, Lava and Zirconium for our crown therapy procedures.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace a missing tooth (or teeth) by joining an artificial tooth permanently to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Bridges are made from gold alloy, porcelain, zirconium or a combination of these materials. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, a bridge may be necessary to safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and to prevent healthy teeth from shifting.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy, also known as endodontics, is the dental specialty involving the treatment of the interior of the tooth, namely the pulp and tissues in the root of the tooth. A root canal is a procedure that removes infected pulp from the central part of the tooth including the nerve, reshapes the canal, and replaces it with filler. Root canal treatment, usually performed under local anaesthetic, may be necessary to save a tooth following an injury or decay. Following root canal therapy, the remaining tooth structure is weakened, thus requiring a permanent restoration such as a dental crown to protect the tooth and ensure its functional integrity. Root canal treatment is usually not painful.

Gum Therapy

Gum therapy, also known as periodontics, is the dental specialty that studies and treats conditions and diseases affecting the supporting structures of teeth. Plaque is the most common cause of gum disease, which can range from simple gum inflammation (gingivitis) to serious conditions that can result in major damage to soft tissue and the bone supporting teeth. This damage can, in turn, lead to tooth loss. Treatments are available for every stage of gum disease.
